He cut his teeth in journalism as a reporter and presenter on student radio at the University of Exeter, broadcasting from a studio in an old china store under the steps of the Student Union. It was here as the host of a weekly current affairs programme, he won two awards from BBC Radio One — and went on to gain a place on the BBC’s coveted News Trainee Scheme.
During his 15 years at the BBC, Nick worked as a Westminster Correspondent, as one of the main programme presenters on East Midlands Today, and as a reporter for the News Channel. He’s reported on everything from general elections, to high profile court cases, to major events including the 7/7 London bombings — and being able to broadcast live, at any news event, at a moment’s notice, is something he still gets a buzz from.
In 2006, Nick left the BBC to go freelance but still appears regularly as a on-screen reporter for ITV News and ITV News London. His work for Mediapool has included a series of films to chronicle how the DLR prepared for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. His voice can also be heard in dramas broadcast by the BBC, HBO and Channel Four.
